Sports are crucial for a good health. The ACLO was established to promote physical education and sporting activities among students at the RUG and HG. The ACLO’s goal is to encourage students to exercise responsibly by offering a variety of accessible sports. This is in line with national guidelines regarding exercise. The Dutch Knowledge Centre for Sports and Physical Activity advises that every person should exercise moderately for 2.5 hours a week and also do muscle and bone strengthening exercises twice a week.

However, sport is not the only thing that ensures good health. Other aspects of health, such as rest, nutrition and mental well-being are also central to each person’s well-being. It is for this reason that the ACLO also aims to connect students and contribute to a healthy lifestyle and well-being in the broadest sense of the word.
