ACLO Sports center is closed – Update 25-03

UPDATE March 25th 15:00

Hereby an update from the Executive Board of the ACLO concerning the Corona measures. As you all may have noticed, the Sports centre and all of the other sports facilities have been closed due to the Corona virus. In these times, it is important to follow the given measures instructed by the government in order to prevent the spread of the Corona virus. We certainly realise that this decision might be disappointing for many of you, however, we count on your understanding in these extraordinary times. These developments have the following consequences/measures concerning the ACLO:

– The ACLO Anniversary week that was planned for May this year, has been cancelled. We are currently looking for another date to celebrate our 75th Anniversary with you.
– The Sports centre and all of the other sports accommodations will, in any case, be closed until the 10th of April. We will share more information about the duration of this measure with you, soon.
– We will soon share with you various exercises and workouts for you to do at home! Follow us on social media for the latest online sports updates.

UPDATE March 12th 22:00 

Dear students,

This is an official statement on behalf of the Sports Centre of RUG and Hanze University of Applied Sciences. In order to prevent further spreading of the corona virus, our sports accommodations will be closed for activities by ACLO Sports Centre from Friday 13 March until at least Friday 10 April. This applies to all of our locations: the Sports Centre, the Willem Alexander Sports Centre as well as ACLO Station. Consequently, the outdoor sports activities on the fields near the Sports Centre (at Zernike) are also cancelled. The courseperiod 3B has been cancelled.

Associations and athletes that make use of other accommodations are recommended to follow the guidelines set by NOC-NSF.

We will keep you posted on the latest developments.

As you all may know, the Coronavirus has reached the Netherlands. The ACLO Sports center is keeping a close watch on its current state and the progress it is making. In any case, we will follow the advice and potential measures taken by the Hanze University of Applied Sciences and the University of Groningen. Both these organisations follow the guidelines set by the National Institute of Public Health and Environment, the Municipal health service, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
