The Climbing course is a beginners' course where you learn to climb on the climbing wall at the Sports Center. The emphasis is on learning to climb safely, using proper belay techniques and the various climbing equipment. At the end of this course, you can take the Indoor Top Rope Climbing exam from the Dutch Royal Mountaineering Association (NKBV). This exam costs €4. For the tenth lesson, you'll go to Bjoeks (link) (the largest climbing wall in the Netherlands) at Kardinge. Climbing there costs €10.
Note: The first two lessons are mandatory! If you are absent from one of these lessons, the course cannot be continued.
Can you climb 5c and are you ready for the next step in climbing? Then sign up for the lead climbing course.
There will be two lead climbing courses for nine participants each during the fourth block of this school year (around June 2026). Around that time, a notice with more information will be posted at the ACLO climbing wall. More information will also be posted there.
Classes take place at the ACLO and Bjoeks. Admission to Bjoeks is not included in the course fee!
In 4 intensive lessons you will learn:
Safe lead climbing belay with various belay devices
Neatly clip sets
Commands in a lead climbing situation
Dealing with lead climbing falls
Handling rope in a lead climbing situation
Assess situations for safety and act appropriately
After completing the beginner climbing course or after acquiring sufficient belay skills elsewhere, you can use the climbing wall and the bouldering wall in the Sports Center during open hours under the supervision of a qualified instructor. Always register for the open hour via the app.
Renting climbing shoes costs €1. You can purchase a strip card for this at the Sports Center counter. The strip cards are available in €5 and €10.
