What is Mudflat hiking?

The Wadden Sea is a sea in which you can walk around as long as the water is low enough. Mudflat hiking is a walk across the bottom of the Wadden Sea in the hours before and after low tide.

Courses

During a mudflat walking course, you can join one trip on the bottom of the Wadden Sea. You may encounter mudflats (strenuous walking), sandbanks, and channels. These channels determine the path you can take, as contact with the seabed must not be lost. There are easy and difficult trips. The difficulty of the trip is primarily determined by the amount of mud along the route. During the course, an easy trip will be chosen for Saturday afternoon.

Participation is free. If the course is offered in the upcoming period, you can register via the ACLO app. This will take you to a WhatsApp group where you will also receive more information about the exact location. Please note that there is also an information meeting at the Sports Centre. Click here for an overview of the course periods. The course is organized by Arenicola.

Our sites

There is an information evening prior to the mudflat hike. During this evening you will hear exactly where you are expected.
