What is Mudflat hiking?

The Wadden Sea is a sea in which you can walk around as long as the water is low enough. Mudflat hiking is a walk across the bottom of the Wadden Sea in the hours before and after low tide.

Topic

During a mudflat walking course you can take one trip to the bottom of the Wadden Sea. You may encounter mudflats (heavy walking), sandbanks and gullies. These channels determine where you can pass, because contact with the ground must not be lost. There are light and heavy tours. The difficulty of the tour is mainly determined by the amount of mud on the route.

Participation is free. If the course is offered in the upcoming period, you can register for it via the ACLO app. This way you will also receive more information about the exact location. Please note that there is also an information meeting at the Sports Center. Look here for an overview of the course periods. The course is organized by Arenicola.

Locations

There is an information evening prior to the mudflat hike. During this evening you will hear exactly where you are expected.
