What is Swimming?

When swimming you try to cover a certain distance through the water as quickly as possible. You can use different types of strokes for this.

Open hour

During the open hour of swimming you determine the pace, duration and intensity of your training. This form of swimming is ideal for the recreational swimmer who wants to swim laps.

Always register for the open swimming hour via the app and scan the QR code upon entering the pool. There is a lifeguard on duty, but you are expected to be able to swim independently.

Swimming course diploma A

The diploma swimming course is especially intended for students who cannot swim at all and do not have an A diploma. If the course is completed successfully, the student will be able to graduate for his or her A-diploma afterwards. The swimming course lasts at least 1 year. Twice a year there is an opportunity to obtain a swimming diploma; just after the Christmas holidays and just before the summer holidays. If you have any questions about diploma swimming, please contact the ACLO.

If the course is offered in the upcoming period, you can register for it via the ACLO app. Look here for an overview of the course periods.

Note: A personal contribution of €100 is requested for the Swimming diploma A course. You cannot reclaim this at the end of the course. You must pay the contribution of €100 before the start of the course. This can be done at the Sports Center counter or in the ACLO app

Swimming technique course

Many people have had little or no swimming lessons after obtaining their A and B swimming diplomas. The front crawl in particular is a technique that many swimmers have little or no control over. Although this course will also focus on the breaststroke and back crawl, the emphasis of this course will be on learning and improving the front crawl. The course is therefore intended for beginners, but swimming diploma A is mandatory. Depending on the level of the students, we start with the turning points and dives. Swimming goggles and a swimming diploma are required for the course! The course lasts 5 weeks, of which you will receive 1 hours of lessons each week. Participation is free. You can register via the ACLO app. Look here for an overview of the course periods.
