Founded in 1945
The ACLO is founded in 1945 and is the biggest student sports organization of the The Netherlands. The ACLO was until 2001 only for students of the University, but since 2001 the Hanzehogeschool (HG) has also joined the ACLO. The ACLO is a typical example of for and by students and is therefore governed by a Board of 7 students and a General Board of 11 students. To support the ACLO has a number of committees. The ACLO works together with the facilitating organization the Sports Centre, which provides accommodation and personnel management.
The ACLO represents the Groningse student sports on a national level by making it possible to participate in Dutch Student Championships (NSK’s) and the Great Dutch Student Championship (GNSK).
